Sodium Bromide

Sodium Bromide is also known as Trisodium tribromide, Bromnatrium, 7647-15-6, NaBr, Bromide salt of sodium, Sedoneural, Sodium bromide (NaBr) and comes with Molecular Formula of BrNa and Molecular Weight of 102.893769. It is prepared through addition of excess bromine to sodium hydroxide solution that assists in formation of a mixture of bromide and bromine. Post mixture, the reaction products are evaporated to dry state and further treated with carbon for reducing bromate to bromide.

It is available in form of white crystals, granules, or powder/white, cubic crystal option and has feebly bitter taste. Its other properties include Boiling Point of 1390°C, Melting Point of 755°C, Density/Specific Gravity of 3.21, pH of 6.5-8.0 and solubility in alcohol (moderate) and in water (94.6 g/100 g water at 25°C).

Potassium Bromide

Potassium Bromide are also known as Kalii bromidum, Bromure de potassium, Bromide salt of potassium, 7758-02-3, Potassium bromide (KBr) and has Molecular Formula of BrK and Molecular Weight of 119.0023. Therapeutically, it has usage as a sedative, anticonvulsant and is made available in form of colorless crystals or white granules or powder/cubic crystals. It is also odorless and has pungent, strong, bitter, saline taste.

Some of its properties include Boiling Point of 1435°C, Melting Point of 730°C, Density/Specific Gravity of 2.74 at 25°C and solubility of 1 g dissolving in 1.5 ml water, 1 ml boiling water, 250 ml alc, 21 ml boiling alc, 4.6 ml glycerol as well as sparingly in ethanol, diethyl ether.

Ammonium Bromide

Ammonium Bromide is known as Ammonium bromatum, azanium bromide, Nervine, Ammonii bromidum, Ammonium bromide ((NH4)Br) and has Molecular Formula of BrH4N and Molecular Weight of 97.94246. It is manufactured through passing bromine in aqueous solution over iron filings which leads to formation of ferric & ferrous bromide solution that is further treated with ammonia.

Available in form of cubic, colloidal crystals or as white crystals/granules or as colorless crystals or in form of yellowish-white crystalline mass, it is odorless in smell and has saline taste. Its other properties include Boiling Point of 235°C (vacuum), Melting Point of 452°C sublime, Density/Specific Gravity at 2.429 @ 25°C and solubility in ether, ammonia, acetone and in water.

Cuprous Bromide

Cuprous Bromide is also known as Bromocopper, Copper Monobromide, Copper I Bromide, Cuprous Bromide, 7787-70-4, AG-H-12192, Copper bromide (CuBr), AC1L2NJJ, AC1Q23SS and comes with Molecular Formula of BrCu and Molecular Weight of 143.45. It is manufactured through reduction of copper(II) sulfate solution which contains potassium bromide with metallic copper/sulfur dioxide/other standard reducing agents.

It can be made available in different forms like in form of white tetrahedral crystals or white powder or cubic crystals (zinc blende structure) or as white crystalline solid that changes to green in light. Its properties include Boiling Point of 1345°C, Melting Point of 504°C, Density/Specific Gravity of 4.72 @ 25°C/4°C and solubility in cold water; ammonium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and hydrobromic acid.

It is manufactured through interaction of barium bromide & zinc sulfate solution that is subsequently crystallized. Made available in white hexagonal crystals form, it is odorless and comes with Boiling Point of 697°C, Melting Point of 394°C, Density/Specific Gravity of 4.3 g/cu cm, Heat of Vaporization of 118 kJ/mol and solubility in ethanol and ether.
